Double Beer Release: Vista's First-Ever Whiskey Barrel Aged Brews!

Double Beer Release: Vista's First-Ever Whiskey Barrel Aged Brews!

November 27, 2020, 12:00pm - November 27, 2020, 9:00pm

Vista Brewing13551 FM 150Driftwood, TX78619 Map

We are thrilled to release not one, but TWO of our first-ever beers aged in freshly-dumped Texas whiskey barrels! These projects have been a labor of love over the past year, and we're thrilled with how they turned out. What could be better as the weather turns chilly than a big winter warmer!?

Both of these will be available in 500 ml bottles at our Driftwood & Bee Cave tasting rooms this week. Pre-order on our website. Tripel will be on draft in Driftwood starting Friday.
=====================
Bourbon Barrel-Aged Middle Trinity Belgian-Style Tripel
13.8% abv / Toffee / Vanilla / Bourbon
On draft in Driftwood starting 11/25

We’ve transformed our original Belgian-style Tripel through almost a year in freshly-dumped Ghost Hill Bourbon barrels from our neighbors Treaty Oak. Complex and mellow with big bourbon flavors. The aroma is toffee, honey and candied walnuts. As the beer warms, notice flavors of caramel, apricot, vanilla and gingersnap with a bourbon finish. A delightful pairing for your holiday turkey tamales, and to rich desserts like crème brûlée or flan.
=====================
Fireside - Whiskey Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout
11.6% abv / Cocoa / Marshmallow / Whiskey
On draft in Driftwood mid-December (only ONE keg!!)

This smooth and boozy ale was aged for over a year in freshly-dumped Balcones “1” Texas Single Malt barrels from Balcones Distilling in Waco, TX. The chocolate and roasted malt base marries perfectly with the 100% Texas unpeated malted barley whiskey to create a rich, chocolately beer. Pours black as night with a thick, mocha colored head and aromas of cocoa powder, pecan, marshmallow and whiskey. The first sip evokes s'mores, followed by dark chocolate and a whiskey finish. Perfect on it’s own next to the fire, or try with chicken molé, chocolate desserts or over ice cream!

We’re offering two Plant Walk sessions per day (Sept. 13 / Oct. 11 / Feb. 7). Each session is a unique ticket:

-2:00 – 3:30 PM - 20 participants

Tickets are $25 (plus tax & online ticketing fees).

Spend time outside on Vista Brewing 's 21 acres rediscovering what your ancestors knew: that there’s food everywhere, not just on store shelves and farmer’s markets. This adventure will use all of your senses and involves experiencing these useful plants in their normal, wild settings so that you’ll be able to properly identify (and eat!) them on your own later on.
Come early or stay late for a few beers (or wine/cider) and a meal from Vista’s hyper-local restaurant sourcing from it's own onsite farm.

Merriwether will also detail the numerous ways he incorporates the plants into his family’s day-to-day diet and medicine chest. The cool thing about Texas is the summer weeds of up north are winter weeds down here so there’ll be plenty to see. Come and release your inner caveman, foodie, survivalist, or hippie!
Please dress appropriately for the weather, including long pants and sturdy walking shoes. This is a rain or shine event. If unsafe weather such as ice storms or heavy rains interfere with the class, a 75% refund will be given if Merriwether makes it to Vista Brewing. A 100% refund will be given if the weather prevents Merriwether from reaching the location.
