Kent & Karen Killough


Karen and Kent Killough set their sights on building a destination where both locals and visitors can experience all the Texas Hill Country has to offer after falling in love with its rolling hills, beautiful trees & wildflowers and out-of-this-world sunsets. They created the Vista destination out of their mutual love for local craft culture, obsession with high quality and sustainably-produced food and drink, and passion for the beautiful Texas Hill Country.  Kent and Karen strive to connect and collaborate with talented partners, and hope that Vista will connect guests in a deep and meaningful way to the world around them.

As a founding member of the Vista team, Karen oversees Vista Brewing’s brand, social media and design, including the curated retail shop. She is also the resident beekeeper. With her background in hospitality and spirits marketing, Karen aims to make sure Vista Brewing’s multi-layer experiences, from private events to perfectly paired beer and food in the beer garden, are executed perfectly for every customer who walks in the door.

Kent Killough is a fourth generation Texan who grew up in the Austin area. Kent’s responsibilities at Vista generally include thinking big thoughts and shoveling all of the stuff that no one else wants to shovel. Problem-solving is an everyday thing for the co-founder, and so is protecting Vista’s 641 beautiful trees!

When the Killoughs are not at Vista, the couple can be found spending time with their five-year-old son and three-year-old twins, including Sunday afternoons in the Vista beer garden listening to live music.


Pat Korn


Hailing from San Diego, Pat Korn gained a passion for the beverage industry after witnessing his great uncle make beautiful wine at home in California’s Sonoma County. As a California native, Korn has an equal appreciation for fine wines and an affinity for barrel aging in freshly-emptied barrels sourced directly from winemakers.

Pat brings his 25 years of craft brewing experience, including five years as Barrel Master of Cellar 3, Green Flash’s barrel-aging facility. At Cellar 3, Pat filled hundreds of barrels, puncheons, and foudres and will lead Vista’s brewing program in the same direction.

When he is not drinking, breathing and living beer, he loves to hike, golf, soak in a hot spring, and enjoy good conversation with his friends over good wine and a home-cooked meal. He is also a proud Army veteran.


Andrew Stiver


Chef Stiver is a born and raised Texan. He has been cooking since the age of 15, including working side-by-side with great Chefs such as Robert Weidmaier at Marcel’s (Washington DC), Christophe Poteauxat Bastille (Alexandria, VA),  and Parind Vora at Restaurant Jezabel (Austin, TX) and running his own catering company for six years.

Chef Stiver strives to source the best local Texas ingredients and do his part to support local farms, and to inspire his guests to do the same. Andrew believes it is his responsibility to showcase each ingredient in the most creative way by blending classic and modern techniques to create memorable and beautiful dishes. Working closely with our farmer and brewing team, Chef Stiver strives to create a seasonal dining experience which pairs perfectly with Vista brews.

Chef Stiver lives in South Austin with his wife, Tiffany, and their two daughters. Besides cooking and being a father Chef Stiver enjoys traveling, gardening, studying nutrtion and currently the art of fermentaion.


Amanda Hawkes

General Manager

Amanda grew up in New England and landed in Boston for college, where she earned a degree in fine arts.  Amanda’s love of food, wine and beer led her to a career in hospitality, including managing an oyster bar, a Spanish tapas restaurant, a Jazz club and as GM & beverage director for a fine dining French restaurant.

Warmer weather called, and Amanda made her way to Texas, where she worked as GM for one of our favorite restaurants, Contigo.  Amanda led the opening team here at Vista, and has grown Vista’s hospitality experience to include pairing dinners and large private events. If you need a beverage pairing suggestion, just ask Amanda!

Amanda lives in South Austin with her husband Zach, chef-owner of Kimchi Jon’s food truck, and their dog Waka.  When they aren’t making kimchi or exploring Austin’s brewery scene, you can find these newlyweds traveling the world and exploring cultures through food and beverage.

Nathan Prater

Much more than a CMS Advanced Sommelier, Nathan Prater brings a unique and interesting background to his chosen profession as a Beverage and Service leader and teacher. Nathan’s skills and creativity have produced some of the city’s most memorable food and beverage paired dining events.
